This I especially bought for the middle of the night. My little ones often raise their fever at night and always feel like they are 500 degrees. I was looking for a way to lower the temperature without interrupting them. This is PERFECT in that. No crying, no bright light, easy to hold and use. That being said, people who complain about inaccuracies do not use them in the right place. I checked this out by measuring the different areas of the forehead and not all of them have a fever or no. You need to point it in the middle of the forehead about the width of the fingers and you will be ready!
